NEW YORK CITY

New York City was founded in 1613. The city belongs to the same state of New York. New York City, or shortly NYC, is located on the east coast of the United States. The territory covers five districts (the so-called Boroughs ); the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Iceland.

Only in the city centre of this world live nearly 9 million people. Together with the metropolitan region there are almost 19 million inhabitants. Thus it is the largest city in the United States. In addition, the largest exchange in the world (the New York Stock Exchange) and many banks, the most important institutions of the country, international corporations and organizations, such as the United Nations, etc. are in this greate city. In the famous financial district on Wall Street is the New York Stock Exchange and has a daily trading volume of around 50 billion US dollars. This huge metropolis belongs with London and Tokyo of the largest financial centres in the world. Together with the ports and their plants on the east coast it is one of the most important trading centers in the world.

New York City is a city of skyscrapers. Some of the most famous buildings are: the Empire State Building (1931), World Financial Center (1973), Trump Tower (1983), Flatiron Building (1902), Chrysler Building (1930), Seagram Building (1958).
Of course, the Statue of Liberty with the Liberty Iceland (1886) before the New York Harbor and the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel (301 Park Avenue) in the Art Deco style is not to be forgotten. The same is true of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Bronx Zoo, the famous Central Park in Manhattan. Also admirable are the buildings in the New York s SoHo district (South of Houston Street). You can see also numerous galleries and shops, cafes, famous museums, shops, antiques, etc.

In general, New York City is famous for its museums, theaters, restaurants and cafes, art and culture as a whole. The vast Metropolitan Museum of Art in the vicinity of Central Park admires everyone. There are historical art pieces of all kinds and from all over the world: from American to Egyptian, from African to Islamic art. Especially since the 20 s, this city is famous for all kinds of musical development. Performed are in addition to musicals also classical music, for example, in the beautiful Metropolitan Opera. The world famous Broadway in the theater district is located on Times Square. There are more than 40 large (and other small) and well-known theater, where each year thousands of performances take place. The music film New York, New York (1977) plays in New York City of the 40s. The film by director Martin Scorsese has been nominated with four Golden Globes. The main roles played Liza Minnelli and Robert de Niro. New York, and Harlem in particular, has been known from the 20s for the Afro-American music. In addition, swing, bebop, free jazz and later disco, punk rock and new wave were born here. The hip-hop culture has its origins in this glory city. In countless clubs and bars are played different music, including jazz and rock.

Most the New Yorker like bagels, pancakes, Cheese Cake, Waldorf salad, pizza, burger, Knisch, sushi etc. Of course, nobody says no to hot dogs.
