STOCKHOLM
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and the residence of the king. The capital city is located in the east of the country. A bust of the Baltic Sea surrounds the city with numerous coves and headlands. The Gulf contains about 24,000 islands of different sizes. On 14 of which is the capital of Stockholm. Equilateral is Stockholm on Lake M laren outflow of the Baltic Sea. The eastern Bay of Lake M laren is Riddarfj rden ( fj rd means bay, where can sailed through). The Lake M laren extends 120 km towards inland. The Slussen (lock) in the middle of Stockholm, separates the freshwater of the Lake M laren of salt water of the Baltic Sea.
Because of this geography, the islands of the capital are linked with numerous bridges. There are over 50 bridges in the city. The capital Stockholm is divided in 14 urban districts. Moreover, in Stockholm the headquarters of the Swedish Parliament and the Swedish Government are located.
Stockholm is the largest city in Scandinavia and also has the largest technical university in whole Scandinavia. Stockholm has a very important royal university and about 20 universities. The capital, in the literature since the 11th Century mentioned, has many theatres, operas, cultural centres and about 45 museums. In particular, the Stockholm Castle (Kungliga slottet) in the centre of the city and the Vasa Museum in Djurg rden bring much interest.
