Copenhagen is Denmark s largest island of Zealand (Sj lland), and is the capital of this country. The capital has over 500,000 inhabitants (2007) and belongs to the Danish Administrative Region Hovedstaden.

The cultural and economic centre of the country has six universities, two conservatories, and also the schools for theatre, dance, design and film, an art academy and science academy, an engineering college, and the German School St. Petri Copenhagen. The Royal Theatre, which is over 100 years old, leads operas and ballets for 1500 spectators. The new opera house Operaen plays since 2005 and is a part of this opera.
